Engine Grinding noise

This car does NOT like to be driven for short drives, that's for damn sure. 90% of the weird behaviors/sounds/issues happen if I take it a short distance, turn it off, then start it back up a 10-15 minutes later.

My daily trips are short and I have not observed any unusual happenings. Usually 12 mile round trip with stops in between. As I said before this a learning curve for this car as most of you are use to a V-8 the I-6 is totally different is sounds. Later RJD

When I say short, I mean around a mile or less. Really just a couple blocks. Turn the car off for about 10 minutes, maybe less, then start it up. Doing this makes the exhaust valves open wide, the engine rev high, and occasionally causes the steering wheel buttons to become unresponsive for me. I usually give the car at least a minute or two to warm up before initially driving as well, and this is in summer weather.

I'm sure some people are used to the V8 sounds but my last Charger was V6 and under normal operation the I6 sounds like a loud V6. With the exhaust closed it sounds more like a truck than a sports car though.

Also not a mechanic but my last car made similar sounds and so does my '26. From my googling it seems that the rapid ticking sound is just the fuel injectors. At least, that's what I've convinced myself!

I know the sound you guys are referring too, its defo not a grind, but rapid ticking and injectors sound very plausable to me
