Yes this is what it does, tried it out the other day. It held lower gear for some engine breaking while going down a steep hill without needing to manually downshift. That being said, I'm not sure what the benefit of this is over letting cruise control manage the gear to maintain a lower speed.Looks like it’s for engine braking in hilly/mountainous areas. Not a “super sport redline mode”. Probably not something to mess around with on flat land… I’d probably use the paddles to engine brake anyways.

Exactly what it doesCan someone with a car test it out???????GROK says.......... it restricts the car to the lower three gears, kind of like a Low range on a really old car.
