Service Shifter Message

After 20 minutes parked, I returned to the Charger and after startup noticed that all the LED lights were out on the shifter and a “Service Shifter” message was displaying on the dash. I shifted into drive and drove around the parking lot. I then shifted into reverse, placed the Charger in park, and turned it off. When I started the Charger again, the LED lights on the shifter lit up and the “Service Shifter” message cleared, so everything was back to normal. Not a cool experience. The whole ordeal only lasted about 10 minutes, and the entire time I was thinking about the shifting and transmission stories I’ve read about this car.

Yes Don Keppler had an issue with the light in his shifter but never saw if he got it fix. Later RJD

Ooof, scary.
I've noticed my shifter gets stuck in Neutral sometimes as I'm pulling it back into Drive. I'm scared it's a warning sign of an upcoming issue like you're seeing, but so far I just squeeze the lever again and pull it a little harder into Drive.
It only seems to happen when I'm not paying attention so maybe it's just user error and I'm letting go of the lever/button thingy too soon.
Have any of you noticed this behavior?
