After market CD

I have a portable cd player that allows me to connect with my computer or TV and even my wife's 2024 QX 80. When I connect it to my Charger through the USB the media will not recognize the player. Anybody know of one that works with our car?

If you're going to go through the trouble of buying a second separate device to play CDs, you're probably better just buying a USB-C drive and ripping the CDs to it using a PC and your current player. The car can play music right from the USB.
Cheaper, takes up less space, easier to switch albums. Also if you get your music from elsewhere it can be higher quality than the compressed CD format and probably download quicker than ripping from the CD.

I'm sure this isn't the answer you were looking for, but CDs don't have much of an advantage these days, I'd hate to see you spend extra money on fancy USB CD player tech for no practical benefit over a simple USB flash drive.

I purchased a CD player from Best Buy that would work on batteries or I had and adapter that plug into to the 12 volt round plug in and I could match the voltage to the CD payer and not use batteries. Only paid $30 for it. Later RJD

BUT if you really want the CD Experience, you could Bluetooth one to the car for sure. Also there are CD USB players that are specifically made to act like a data device and interface with modern cars. Not sure if any work with uConnect 5, but worth a look.

As in Compact Disc? Yes, get a good USB-C drive and it will be better than any CD conversion. You do have to look for a HQ version of some songs though.

Yes, very, but you probably need one like that. It acts like a USB Drive, not a CD Player, to the head unit. Personally, I'd go Bluetooth, there are tiny rechargeable headphone jack to Bluetooth adapters that are cheap.

I have made over 100 cds with music I like for long rides. I do not like XM. Around town I listen to talk radio. Really, I only use the Scat pack on trips. I have driven it less than 1000 miles since I purchased it on June 14th. When I'm in the car for a couple of hours, I want my music. Sometimes I take my 06 because of the in dash 6 cd player.

The reason I like XM as you can get a variety of programs and I especially like old time radio has some good radio shows from years ago. Also has some talk shows and I can listen to the Today show. So far since buying mine have only 1900 miles and have not taken on a trip as yet but hope to head to FL in it in Dec. Later RJD

FWIW, I use this, a tiny USB Thumb Drive in a right angle USB C Male to USB A Female. Super tiny, out of the way, in the lower USB C port under the radio/dash. That is Source USB 2, in the Media app. I have all of my CDs ripped to my PC, and I have a playlist of "Car Songs". I copy just those to it.

There are a variety of bluetooth dongles you can attach to your portable CD player, either through the audio jack or the USB. The Charger wants to find folders in the thumb drive, probably can't recognize your CD drive directly.
