Every Hemi car I've ever pulled apart has dumped oil out of the intake manifold when doing a cam and lifter job or anything that I'd remove the intake for. 10+ years as a tech, doesn't matter if its well maintained or not its just completely standard and unavoidable in all internal combustion engines.

Anywhere from 20K to 200K, Cam and Lifter failure doesn't necessarily have a time limit for failure.

Well Only have 14,000 miles on mine and all high miles. Had 2018 Ram had 6.4 35,000 miles no issues. So in my case don't see the need. Later RJD Later

I've been asking to see if the vapor actually matters though on the Hellcat boards and gotten no answer. If these are "needed" why hasn't Dodge put them on for warranty purposes, then?

I agree if these where needed they wold come from the factory. So it tells me they are really not needed. Later RJD

That would cause way to many issues as well as not be "CARB" legal. (disposing of the oil can't be monitored, which is why auto makers decide to let it plumb back into the intake to hopefully be burnt off.) Stellantis did attempt this with the 4 cylinder version of the hurricane engine. and all it has caused is massive oil leaks as they decided to store it on the side of the engine block.

Many people would drive and never check, overfilling the can. Heck people that aren't automotive enthusiasts like us will drive a car and never check the air filter for 100,000 miles.

In the performance industry/aftermarket world, a catch can is cheap insurance/peace of mind..always has been since we opened doors and always will be.

If this was on the vehicles then it would be the dealer or garage that changes oil to dump. Us car guys would be taking care of this but realize general folks would not have a clue. I always changed my oil up till the DW passed away now my dealer does and they are very proficient. Later RJD
