Oil Change Oddities

I decided to change just the oil today to collect a sample to get analyzed. It only drained out a little over 5 quarts, w/o the filter. Yes, the filter is horizontal, so obviously no way to prefill that. There's a door covering both, but it wouldn't come off in my driveway, so I had to modify the tabs. There's also some sensor next to the drain plug, my guess is the oil level one, so I covered that up too. The plug is dead center and easy to reach from the front.
