Short automotive background ...

I've had 11 Stangs, from a '69 Mach 1 390 to several FOX bodies, and some newer Coyotes as well. Stock to mild tunes.
All were V8's except one, and most of them made at least one run down the drag strip. Some had made many runs. Lol
I also had a Taurus SHO, Datsun 240-Z, Cobalt SS/SC Stage 2, Dodge SRT-4, Stinger GT AWD, Explorer ST, Durango 392, etc.

And while I'm still going easy on my Scat until the 500 mile break in, I can say this car is on another performance level.
Wow. That's all I can say. WOW. The couple of times I gave the much neglected accelerator pedal some attention, she MOVED.

AWD makes such a huge difference I don't think people understand. This is one of the reasons why you see so many fast 4x4 F150's out there.

100% You don't get all the theatrics as RWD you just take off. And I think that's what makes the Six Pack so good. With the Hellcat coming back I worry they will be doing AWD and it will take away from the Six Pack and where it stands in the Dodge line up.

I still think about buying another AWD Eagle Talon or DSM again!

Never had one, but a co-worker had an original Talon AWD Turbo, it was a hoot up a hill. Also, geez, haven't heard DSM in a Looooong time!

Brings back them good memories.... i remember i didn't do much to my talon, but i cut a 1.6 on dry rot tires and went 12.6 without many mods. Happy times.

It's gonna be a strange line up for sure. I truly think there will be an all Hemi line up, not just a HC. Could be 2dr only Hemi, while the 4dr remains i6. Whether RWD only Hemis or they incorporate AWD or leave AWD only for the i6 line up. IDK, waiting to see what happens.

Personally after having the Hurricane HO in my charger and the SO in my Wagoneer… idk if I’d want a 5.7/6.4 HEMI unless it were about 10k less than the SO/HO sixpacks respectively. It’d be purely for an auditory experience because the torque in these is face ripping compared to the 392 and the fuel economy with spirited driving is about double IME.

The hellcat 6.2 is a different animal. I’d also be curious about a street legal version of the 5.8L Drag Pak HEMI showing up in these. Idk the specs on the Drag Pak, but supposedly sub 8s 1/4 mile.

I said the exact same thing to someone yesterday.
If Dodge put the 392 in the new Charger (which I loved in my Durango SRT) it'd be slower than the HO Hurricane. It'd sound better, but it'd be slower.
It's all about 475 hp vs 550 hp. The 392 would probably have better immediate throttle response, but the extra hp & torque of the Hurricane would beat it.

^ This, to me, the only reason for a HEMI is a CHEAPER version, with LESS POWER. Like a 5.7 base engine, maybe even RWD only.
The HEMI was awesome, for its time, 20 years ago. I've had 4, 1 was a 392. I loved them all. But they have less power, and are less efficient. Yeah, that 392 is a joy in every way, until you realize it is slower, then you have to fill it up more.
Maybe a RWD, 392, MANUAL "Charger Classic" with all kinds of retro graphics! I bet that would sell very well.
