At a stop light with start/stop activated (engine stopped), everything was normal. Then I saw a message like "press button to start", which didn't work. Then several strange errors showed up on the cluster, one of which I remember was like, "cannot start. hood latch open". Then the cluster display went blank and everything rebooted. Somewhere in there I tried to turn it off, including opening the door to get a full turn off. It came back after the reboot as if nothing had happened, all before the light turned green. But yeah. No bueno. I'm driving with start/stop disabled whenever I remember. Anyone else had this?

Car info/miles/age? Do you run your AC? In fact, if you do a search here, you'll see that a lot of people turned it off each start and it was never even activating. I have never had my engine turn off in two months, but I always run the AC.

Scat Pack Plus, 7000mi, 4mo. Had a couple updates for emission codes and the shifter a while back. I'm not sure about the A/C. I think not on that day.
And update: it just did something similar again, luckily in my parking spot. I backed up too far so put it into Drive to inch up a bit and accidentally hit the On/Off button instead of the parking brake (which was engaged b/c I have autobrake turned on). It shut off as commanded then wouldn't restart (I put it into Park), flashing that message on the cluster about the Start/Stop and the hood latch. I had Start/Stop disabled the whole time. I then tried several times to restart, before and after it seemed to have rebooted (cluster cleared and I think the logo appeared) and a lot of things clicked, but no start. I then turned it off and opened the door to really turn it off, closed the door, pressed the brake, pressed the start button, and it started normally.

I'd bring that to a dealer ASAP so they can check for codes. Sounds like a battery/electrical issue, but hopefully it's a software issue and they can fix it for you easily

Edit: I just re-read your post. Maybe this is all caused by accidentally hitting the start button? I would bet hitting it while moving or in gear is going to set off a bunch of warnings

It is possible that the first time I also hit the start button, but it’s unlikely as I was just at a traffic light and not fiddling with anything in the console.
