Does anyone else experience a kind of like misfire in and out sound when letting the car come down from revving high?

No back fire. When car is first started it's loud then as the engine warms up the by pass exhaust valve will switch the sound to a lower level. Later RJD

True I understand stand that but wile in the open position it sounds like it skips a few times....no check engine or rough idle it just sound like its going in and out of a misfire at some points in that open position

So far have not noticed it. Maybe I'm not paying attention on start up. Later RJD

This is a clip its subtle so you have to really listen its not like a steady grumble its like it skips ( and no not that pause that happens on every start) this is different

I assumed this was just the active exhaust valve fluttering up and down as needed for starting.

It only happens if I start the car shortly after shutting it off like if I went to store....have not noticed it on a cold start

It does this on cold start ups and warm start ups Later RJD

For some reason this car really doesn't like warm starts or something. Just like you say, if I shut my car off for a short period of time then start it, it is LOUD and the exhaust is wide open regardless of drive mode. It chills out after a few minutes or if I start driving it. I haven't noticed any thing that sounds like a misfire during that though.

The other thing you might be talking about: the car will give some good sounding pops and bangs if you actually rev it in neutral or park, but that's just because it's hitting the rev limiter. This is a nice sound but if someone wasn't aware it could sound like something is broken.

The other similar sound is what "RJD" is saying where the car will start with the exhaust open, then very shortly after it will close, but it should not happen multiple times during the same start. Your clip isn't working for me so I can't verify if that's what the sound is but you will hear that sound on both cold and warm starts.

It does that? Does yours? (If you have the car)
Yes I have a scat pack (after dark 4-door) and it sounds pretty much exactly like yours on startup, I think. I’ll take a video/recording and upload it later if I remember.

To me it sounds like an air flow thing between exhaust and intake, and I’m not sure it’s a problem so much as characteristic of the engine and warm up procedure programmed into it.

The Hurricane takes much longer to drop to idle RPM than the 5.7 and 6.4 HEMIs I’ve noticed… and it always seems to run the same process at startup even when it’s a warm start. I start it and let it run way longer than any other car I’ve had recently before putting it in gear.

My Wagoneer with the SO seems to do the same thing, but it’s just quieter/more muffled.

Think folks are over reacting to something that is new to you and quite different in sound than a V-8 . Later RJD

So tiny little hiccups in the startup are an over reaction? I genuinely dont know im a former pentastar guy never had a loud exhaust and have had dodge for awile now so I know it comes with issues so I want to prevent t things from getting bigger.

Honestly, I play my music louder and try not to worry about weird sounds since it's under warranty. I'd go nuts if I did. 😂
I'll go along with that;)Later RJD
