I just did a bit of searching, and it does not appear to be mandated.
But...
AEB (automated emergency braking) WILL be by 2029, and I think that is when the whole additional control stuff is proposed Search on "Section 24220 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act requires all new passenger vehicles to eventually include factory-installed technology that detects driver impairment and prevents or limits vehicle operation.". Check with your legislature on what you vote for. Up to you
The impairment one I think was pushed back a little past 2029 now. I was listening to a podcast and apparently there is still the issue of false positives being too high and the possibility of disabling in a dangerous situation like the middle of an Interstate. I have not been able to really look into it but I did hear again in the doctors waiting room about a delay on the TV but the cause was not said.
I have a feeling it will too but probably not as soon as they want too. As far as GM goes they been making poor decisions lately upsetting people. Their V8s have issues in the Trucks and SUVs and a lot of people are not happy with the fact that Carplay and android auto are gone.

Yeah... DEFINITELY not regular cruise control on that button. I pushed that button on my first drive because that's where CC was on the old models. I did not like the car suddenly driving itself on snowy January roads!

I never noticed that, but you’re right. The ACC does not work well in stop and go traffic, but a read of the owners manual warns as much.
It works a hell of a lot better than NON-ACC would!
I disagree on this one. Regular CC is predictable even in some light traffic. ACC will brake hard because a car in another lane slowed, or a car crossed your path a little too slowly. It's dangerous to suddenly slow unpredictably like that. I don't even think it uses my brake lights when it does so.
Maybe I shouldn't be using CC off of the highway, but I have been doing so for years without issue until ACC came along. It has saved me from tickets due to carelessness in lower speed areas
It's just nice to have options.
Regular CC is 100% predictable. It will always run into the car in front of you if they slow down.
And yes, the brake lights come on if slowing down more than something like .1 or .2 G.
And I 100% agree, it is nice to have options.
There is a secret button under the dash that unlock another 100hp.

Same here! I've been using regular cruise control both on and off the highway for years. It saves me from the abundance of speed cameras installed throughout Korea. I thought regular CC was available, but I found out just yesterday that it is not available when I tried to set it. It really kind of sucks.
I was able to use my ACC yesterday and it doesn't really bother me. It actually slowed down a tad late for me a couple of times, so I used the brakes. The fastest we got was only 50 though.
