So I have had my 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack for 6 weeks and from the very first week the engine made a grinding noise when I accelerate - its been back and forth to the dealership and they have finally said its a normal noise coming from the exhaust actuator's - has anyone else has the same noise ?

See this is your first post welcome to the forum. Have not any engine noise so far. Would you like to introduce yourself on the main page under the thread Dodge six pack introductions. later RJD

Thanks for intro. Looks like you like your Chargers. Enjoy this new one it's a fun car. Laater RJD

I'm not a mechanic, but I do know that the exhaust actuators are in the rear, not in the engine, and they don't make any mechanical noise that could be heard over the exhaust sounds. I haven't heard anything I would consider "grinding" in my car.
You can "hear" them open and close indirectly by the change in volume of the exhaust.

Yes!! I've only had my Charger for two weeks and it has done this ever since I picked it up. Please let me know what you find out. It's driving me crazy. I haven't had a chance to take it back to the dealer yet but I'm guessing I will get the usual runaround

Upon doing some research - it could be an exhaust leak, the exhaust actuators, or one of the turbos. On my car the noise seems to emanate from the driver's side front. but its hard to tell

They are saying normal exhaust noise

I have not heard any noise so far but a lot is due to the exhaust system. Later RJD

Crazy that so many are hearing it - I just hope nothing bigger comes from it - I have everything documented though

One thing you got to remember this car is going to totally sound different compared to a V-8 which you are accustom to. It's a learning curve for these new Dodges. So far ones that have been taken to dealers are being assured there is nothing wrong just exhaust noise. Maybe we will see a closer to this. later RJD

I noticed that the idle seems really chatty. Is this normal??
I can’t tell if that’s normal or not as it sounds pretty ticky with the hood up. I’ve not listened to mine with the hood up before. It’s not a super quiet engine by any means, especially on start up it’ll idle pretty high for a minute or more then calms down.

I generally think all of the HO Hurricanes I’ve heard, including mine, sound a bit dry at low RPM. The SO hurricanes in other vehicles sound more lubed up. I’m not a mechanic, just my thoughts.

Also not a mechanic but my last car made similar sounds and so does my '26. From my googling it seems that the rapid ticking sound is just the fuel injectors. At least, that's what I've convinced myself!

The owner's manual evens speak about ticking on Page 240, but not to worry.

thanks for the tip.....the manual says that it should quiet down after 30 seconds - and/or this could be caused by short drive cycles. mine was pretty warm and had been driven a bit. So still a bit unsure. Would be interesting to know if others observe the same

This car does NOT like to be driven for short drives, that's for damn sure. 90% of the weird behaviors/sounds/issues happen if I take it a short distance, turn it off, then start it back up a 10-15 minutes later.
