Anyone else have an issue with the infotainment screen (non-plus) freezing and not taking touch input?

I could still select drive modes from the wheel and interact over USB. I was driving into the sun rise and the back of the panel felt slightly hot so i suspect it overheated. Once I pulled over and restarted the vehicle the system recovered. This is the first time it happened and the car is at 3000 miles.

I have not had this isse on this car but it did it on my 22 jeep grand Cherokee and did as you did just stopped and turn car back on after a few minutes. Also happened on my 20118 Ram 3/4 ton. Later RJD

Every now and then it takes a few seconds to read the input but never had it fully stop like your describing.

I had the exact same issue on my Durango. The screen would freeze, I’d shut the car off, wait a minute or two, and restart it, and it would come back like nothing happened. I fully expect the same thing to happen on the Charger at some point.

Being in IT for many years, this kind of thing is pretty common. These cars are basically computers on wheels, and they reboot every time you start them (most people just don’t realize it’s happening). I do miss the days of gas carburetor, at least they didn’t have to restart an operating system linked to an auto company just to go for a drive.

As others are saying I've mostly only had stutters, and an issue where the wheel buttons weren't responding until I restarted. Had Android auto boot up with a squished display once too, and some issues with my phone connecting.
The cure for all of it is to just take a second and hold both knob buttons until the system reboots. It's always fixed any issues.
I haven't had a need to turn the car off or anything else more extreme like battery disconnects. It all fixes with the reboot and only takes a minute.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the tip "hold both knob buttons until the system reboots". While the car was running I pushed both knobs for about 10 seconds and watched the reboot with out any impact to the car running.
Besides being awkward to reach the knobs, any reason this can't be done while on the highway to prevent having to pull off?

You only need to hold the left one, the volume knob.

Great info. When the screen froze I was navigating heavy Atlanta traffic. I feel a lot better now knowing a simple reboot, without having to pull over, brings the system back.

Thanks!

Oh that's good to know. Everyone said it was both so I just went along with it
I posted that on daytonaowners a year and a half ago, then corrected it. It is just one of those things that doesn't die. I keep looking for other "hidden" things.
Also, you can reboot the uConnect from Vehicle-Settings-System... something buried down deep like that. If it has the newest update, that should be an option now.
