I actually just went to a detail shop today and they were able use some polishing compound to remove the "smears" (strictly by hand, no power tools).I also have a few (2-3?) of those. Looks like someone put a palm print on a perfectly clean car. I thought that is what they were, somewhere I rested the heel of my hand. They are all near the top of the quarterpanel on either side. I assume it is where someone at final check "buffed" out something in the paint at some level. I haven't tried to do anything about them, but whatever it is looks like some buffing/waxing would take them out.
I mentioned it once, but never officially tried to get anything done about it. Whatever they could do, I assume I could do with more care, just not as efficiently.
I sure don't want anything being done requiring even more clear being sprayed. I only really notice them when the car is clean (so ½ the time) and outside in the daytime (½ of the drive times) and sunny (maybe ½ of those times...) so yeah, only really noticeable 1/8 of the times I bother to look at it.
... Now if I can just stop looking at it so much!![]()
Good info, thanks. I just need to bother to try I guess.I actually just went to a detail shop today and they were able use some polishing compound to remove the "smears" (strictly by hand, no power tools).

Not this guy, I'm not putting sandpaper on my car unless something actually needs repairing first. If needed I will be doing my own cleaning up the paint. Looks like it might be time to color sand the car.Later RJD
This is what gets rid of orange peal and when you get done your shine is out of sight. Did this to a 1994 Camaro . won best paint award at World of wheels car show. Later RJDNot this guy, I'm not putting sandpaper on my car unless something actually needs repairing first.
