hardwiring a dash cam ?

What type of dashcam front and rear wil you recomend to buy?

I've been using the Vantrue N2 Pro for many years and love it. The instructions say to pull/push the second housing to the right, but it needs to be pulled straight down.

The 5 volt adapter is a standard usb port.
Just source a usb cable with a mini usb end.

Just a word of warning on that Amazon adapter, it's gonna make me sound like a shill, but I watched and interview of Dongar's adapter that YouTuber Vortex Radar did. They specifically pointed out that they use higher quality parts than their competitors so they're more resistant against heat. And let me tell you, it gets TOASTY in that little compartment above the rearview mirror.

Maybe they're full of it, and maybe that Amazon one is fine. Just sharing what I know.
