regarding performance ...

Makes me wonder why you have to be at a complete stop to turn on RWD.
Physically it doesn't need to be at a stop. During one of the press events I recall a Dodge rep saying as much. Basically It's a safety measure. I remember him saying they may reconsider the safety measure in the future.

It would be nice if they removed the software block. Could grab some extra HP if you find yourself getting into a roll race where you don't need as much traction.

I think they’re limiting more than that “for safety” or safety of the drivetrain. Been playing around with mine for a while since I got miles on it and I’m certain the engine gets retard/electronically limited right before peak power in almost all scenarios. There’s just so much torque leading up to it you wouldn’t notice without studying performance pages behavior. Barely getting a hair over 400hp on pulls while torque at 500-530 and rpm well over 5k. It could just be me and the conditions, but I’ve done quite a bit of experimentation.

I’ve also had some automatic shifts that felt odd in a pull like the car hit the rev limiter and the transmission shift timing was too slow, because the nose of the car kinda dips.

These are fast as hell, but I think they’re actually faster than what the computer systems are allowing. I’m not so sure the car itself isn’t still “learning”, though.

Also, down shifts in “manual” or paddle mode are overly conservative on what it’ll allow you to jump to. I think I was going around 65 and it wouldn’t allow 3rd gear.

I felt that happen. Seems like it occurs when going from 1st to 2nd.
The car took a dip, and then accelerated normally (Dragy 0-60 4.8 sec)
I tried it again, no dip and everything seemed normal (Dragy 0-60 4.4 sec)
*DA ~2,700 ft using LC

FOUND SOMETHING FROM RACERX ON THE NOSE DROP

RacerX was testing the car last year down the dragstrip (1/8 mi) at it's introduction.
The Dodge rep in the passenger seat said the engineers plugged it in to see what why it did that (his answer below).

So far I've been driving in Auto most of the time and I getting 16mpg in town that is great. It seems to me to use less gas as your not driving the front. I have not notice the dip or lag. Later RJD
 
In auto mode with mixed driving, I'm getting ~19.5 mpg.
The "dip" apparently only happens when you're actually using Launch Control.

I’ve done pulls from a roll and have had it happen or hard acceleration out of a turn. I’ve never used launch control or hard launched mine yet.

According to the Dodge engineers in that vid, it does it when there's excessive front wheel spin.
So when you experienced it those times, that's probably what happened.
In Sport Mode or when using LC, traction control is disabled.
I'm guessing that's when it can pop up.
Maybe it won't do it in Auto Mode?

That’s interesting, I mean it’s definitely happening under high power/torque conditions only. I watched the video and was curious to see why they wouldn’t try it with TCS enabled in sport (pretty sure you can turn it back on or maybe even do “full off” if it’s a timing pull) or going pure RWD in sport to see if that really makes a difference. I’d imagine hooking up in RWD would kill the time as much as the nose dip, though, but would be interesting to see if the dip doesn’t happen there.

I’m more concerned about it happening in spirited street driving, because it’s not isolated to launch control. I’ve had it happen 5 or 6 times in various scenarios and it just feels wrong.

I would also like to know what they're trying to say. At first I thought it meant don't hold it revved for too long but the bit about good brake pressure makes it sound like you need to start revving quicker? Is that image auto-translated from another language or AI slop or something?

Edit: I have a theory: they are instructing how to do this at a drag strip with limited time before green so I think they are actually saying make sure you start revving quickly so you can build up more boost before launching? I remember when RacerX was testing he was launching pretty quickly. Maybe you gotta let it cook?

I don't have a Sixpack (I have the Daytona), but my assumption is "Nail the throttle" while mashing the brake pedal, don't "roll it on".

Cross posting because I’m super excited. Hit over 500hp in PP today. Some sort of electronic limiter was lifted today, not sure what conditions allowed for it, but likely due to being over 2200 miles or something.

It definitely felt like significantly more horsepower was being made today so I popped open PP to take a gander on a few little pulls.
