regarding performance ...

What does this even mean 😂? “Get into the boost regime quickly”…

I’m more concerned about it happening in spirited street driving, because it’s not isolated to launch control. I’ve had it happen 5 or 6 times in various scenarios and it just feels wrong.

It means exactly what it says😂!

If you get into boost and then sit around mulling the meaning of life, that's when he says it'll do it.

I would also like to know what they're trying to say. At first I thought it meant don't hold it revved for too long but the bit about good brake pressure makes it sound like you need to start revving quicker?

They're saying that once you're in LC and you hold the brakes and then floor the accelerator ... GO!
Basically, don't just sit there after engaging launch control.

I don't have a Sixpack (I have the Daytona), but my assumption is "Nail the throttle" while mashing the brake pedal, don't "roll it on".
If you try to hold it against the brakes too long it seems to back off the boost.

I think these two guys are onto something!

Interesting, and makes sense. There's a number of variables here and I'm not gonna go launching my car enough times to figure out what the sweet spot is on my own. Hopefully someone makes a video on it in the future or something.

With old fashioned power braking (no LC) I've never experienced the nose dive.

THOUGHTS
I'm beginning to question the 4.4 sec 0-60 that I and others seem to be getting with PP. Hmm.
And according to conversion charts, an 8.04 sec. 1/8 mile ET should equal a 12.5 sec. quarter time.
Dropping to 1/4 tank of fuel and removing the added weight would net ~150 lb weight reduction.
That should theoretically get me ~4.0 sec 0-60 mph and a ~12.3 quarter mile at the same DA of 2,000 ft.
It seems better DA would get me close to Dodge's claim of a 3.9 sec 0-60 mph and a 12.2 sec. quarter mile.

I know Youtube reviewers were initially a little disappointed in how low the maximum RPM limit was for LC, but if the front wheels are spinning at the maximum setting on prepped surfaces, maybe the maximum setting is just too much for stock tires even at a drag strip. Sure you'll get a fun launch off the line, but you'll blow up that next shift with all that boost and ruin your overall time. It's just speculation on my part but I think we need to find the sweet spot for the rev limiter where you can let it build up a good amount of boost but the nose doesn't dip in the first few shifts.

The above data results I posted were achieved setting the LC to 2,900 rpm.
But yeah, the Hurricane 3.0L set up in this car is so new that a lot of this is speculation.
But the good news is I encountered zero nosedive, just perfect shifting and strong hard acceleration.(y)

Either way, they didn’t appear to get a nose dip.

I can believe high 11s people were already beating the 0-60 times. Watched reviewers get below the 3.9 to 60 like Hagerty, Redline reviews etc hitting the 3.6-3.8 range. So getting lower than Dodges quarter mile time can be done too.
 
I would find it very surprising to see ANY wheelspin from either the front or rear on dry pavement or a prepped surface. The AWD vehicles I have owned (2 Tuned twin turbo Lincolns and 2 twin turbo BMWs) certainly would not have wheelspin. The Lincolns were very similar to the Charger in performance numbers and the BMWs are quicker. I think this nose dive at the 1-2 shift you are discussing is due to holding launch control too long.

I've watched dozens of reviews and have yet to see an 11.xx quarter time for the 6 Pack. If anyone finds it, please post up the link.

I can believe high 11s people were already beating the 0-60 times. Watched reviewers get below the 3.9 to 60 like Hagerty, Redline reviews etc hitting the 3.6-3.8 range. So getting lower than Dodges quarter mile time can be done too.

Redline Reviews got 3.76, which is what Car and Driver got (3.7 sec). And C&D's quarter mile time was 12.1 sec.

That's certainly possible. The car is too new yet, will wait and see if others report it and when/how it happens.
 
Quick FYI ...

Some of you may know this already ...

If you double tap the steering wheel's Drive Mode button, it will automatically put your car into whatever you set your Custom Drive Mode for.

So let's say you went into the infotainment screen and set the Custom Drive Mode with every parameter set to Sport, then that is what you'll get every time you double tap the steering wheel's Drive Mode button (worked exactly the same way on my Durango 392).

Mine spins all the time in AWD, especially in sport, you feel the rear get loose on a straight pull out of 30mph or so etc, not even launching from a stop. They’re rear biased AWD like 30/70 in sport and 40/60 in auto.

On Lincoln sedans matching the HO Hurricane numbers 550hp/531lb-ft… that’d likely require a serious rebuild of engine components not just a tune, but I could be wrong. You’re talking like the difference between the SO Hurricane and HO Hurricane which is more than a tune, real components need swapped to get the upgraded performance.

The new charger should be fairly competitive with most of the S58 like BMWs as long as they’re not the super light ones or CS versions.

That’s weird. I can make them spin in everyday driving. If I hit it from a dead stop they’re definitely spinning some in sport mode. Check your PP tire slip gauge, you might just not feel it because there isn’t a ton of wiggle feel and they stay pretty straight in these big cars. You’ll definitely not be 0% in that gauge from any hard launch… too much torque.

There’s always some spin under healthy throttle, but it won’t be smoking them in AWD. You can drift/slide turns in sport awd on dry pavement.

On the consistent 4.4s 0-60s, I’m wondering if those are high due to the cars being sub 2,250 miles and not having full HP unlocked yet. 4.6 is what they quote the R/T at with the SO. The car makes roughly R/T horsepower until the unlock conditions are met and you get about 130 more.
 
Using sport mode is where you can break the tires loose and do a big burn out. The power is transmitted to just rear wheels . If you ever watch the video of burn outs with e car it's awesome. Later RJD

Ford ecoboost engines respond very well to tuning and there are multiple tuners for them. My tuned MKS ecoboost was a low 12 second car and my tuned Continental was only slightly slower. Both were about 500 pounds lighter than a Charger. Both were FWD biased and the MKS would chirp the front tires on the 1-2 shift but never enough to cause traction control to engage. If the Charger is breaking traction enough to cause the power dip at the shift point, the engineers need to make some changes.

It seems that this issue only happens when using launch control so I am still suspicious that it is related to that rather than traction.
