regarding performance ...

The first time I foot brake launched it in AWD it threw me back in the seat. I had to cinch the seat a bit forward and upright to keep control, now it's not as a shock ...

Yup, pretty much the only way to get that feeling in a high hp RWD car is with slicks.
(or rear engine placement like the Vette and Porsche)

Here's a vid from TKs garage mentioning the new motor at the 4:38 mark.

"Because some of the power numbers they're quoting for this new hemi ... insane ... and I'm being told sound ... OHHHHH INSANE!"

Well, I'm guessing the price on that new hemi is going to be "OHHHHH INSANE!"
And I'm guessing the lower mpg on that new hemi is going to be "OHHHHH INSANE!"

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so. At this point, I don't see myself trading in the HO Hurricane for it.
But more power to Dodge for doing it!

@CareerFirefighter And I'm guessing the lower mpg on that new hemi is going to be "OHHHHH INSANE!"
Yeah, that's truly a moot point. We all know folk don't buy these concerned about MPG. Let's be real. Of all my high performance vehicles throughout the years I was never concerned with MPG or fuel prices. If I was, I'd buy a Honda Civic. In which I do have one in the stable. I guess if you can only have one vehicle it's a concern, but these aren't single vehicle owner daily drivers. The price might be higher. With a new engine, they're gonna recoup cost somehow. The buyers for these are those that held out awaiting for the return of the Hemi in some shape or form. New Rumblebee lineup, SRT JGC, Dodge Copperhead and few others coming. Dodge is crazy and had to give in the Globalist Big Green Machine and did what they did. It appears the tide has turned. The i6 Hurricane will still be a thing. I think the all new Durango will be a the platform for it and certain JGC. The caveat to this is, there will always be some idiot who buys one and then later is concerned about fuel economy, Haha.

@rossage Yeah, that's truly a moot point.
Well, just because someone believes something is a "moot point" doesn't mean it's a moot point. Let's be honest. Nobody who wants a performance car would be unhappy if it got better mpg. That just wouldn't make any sense. Of all the dozens of high performance cars I've owned and raced over the decades, getting decent mpg was always a plus if I could get it. And the new Charger is AWD, which immediately puts it into the category of potentially being a legitimate one vehicle ownership because of its all season capability. And all this talk about people waiting out for the hemi just doesn't wash, and I'll give you an example that just happened to me today. I was out running errands and someone asked me what kind of car I had, and I told him it was a new AWD Charger with the HO Hurricane engine. This older (more mature) guy approved and said he liked my car. When I asked him what his background with cars was, he ran down a litany of classic muscle, including an actual vintage Dodge 6 Pack. And there you go. To conclude, I've lived through drag racing V8 muscle cars, and then 4 & 6 cylinder turbo cars, and then both 6 cyl and 8 cyl performance SUV's, and now back to a turbo 6. We really need to open up our automtive vision here, and not just cater to the nostalgia of past memories. It's all good ...

I said the exact same thing to someone yesterday.
If Dodge put the 392 in the new Charger (which I loved in my Durango SRT) it'd be slower than the HO Hurricane. It'd sound better, but it'd be slower.
It's all about 475 hp vs 550 hp. The 392 would probably have better immediate throttle response, but the extra hp & torque of the Hurricane would beat it.
Definitely on the top end. The 75+hp does have to pull another 600lbs or so. I would take the HO over the 5.7 but the 392 is just a sensational all around experience.

If we're talking Charger Scat Pack vs. Durango 392, let's look at C&D's 0-130 mph times for the two:

2026 Charger Scat Pack / 0-130 mph 15.6 sec
2022 Durango SRT 392 / 0-130 mph 23.2 sec

Now let's step it up and throw the Durango Hellcat into the mix:
2021 Durango Hellcat / 0-130 mph 16.0 sec

The '26 Charger Scat Pack even beats the Hellcat version of the Durango.
So yeah, the 392 sounds tons better. No question about it.
But the 550 hp Charger passes the 710 hp Durango HC.
That's mighty impressive.

Fair enough. All good points. I'm also one of those guys that likes the turbo inline six cars and would definitely compliment one of i saw it, as I never have seen one in the wild yet. My twin turbo V6 Infiniti Red Sport 400 I just got rid of was a blast. Sounded great with a performance exhaust. I've had other non V8 performance cars, but I just like a V8 car Like we both know, people are gonna buy what they want. And maybe I'm one of those guys that will always have a V8 car. They never get old for me. I will have to go drive an HO Charger at some point. I like all types of cars. Plenty out there. It's nice to have choices and these discussions .

As far as the weight difference I was talking about I was comparing a 392 Charger vs a Hurricane Charger which is why I said the Hurricane is up 65HP but does have to move another 600lbs or so. I would love to see the actual comparison of something like a 20-70 mph.

It’s more than just sound for the 392, especially the Hellcat. That immediate torque makes any vehicle super fun to drive in realistic street situations.

I’ve probably been to 130 in a car twice in my lifetime so it’s really a meaningless stat to me. I do a hard 20-70 just about every time I take my Challenger out. The Hurricane is going to walk everything from 60-130 thanks to what turbos do best.

I wonder what the Charger Daytona 0-130 time is? I hit 124 in 11.4, and since there is no transmission, it is limited to something like 134mph because the motors are spinning at something like 17,000 RPM at that point. But a 0-130 would be a nice comparison.

It is a good stat for comparison purposes, and I've been up around, and over that mark (a loooong time ago) in several cars. Including another oddball Charger, my 1985 Dodge Shelby Charger Turbo (with a bit more boost...) back in 1990 or so. And in a 1993 Intrepid with the 3.5, but the best was doing 140mph down the back stretch of the Indianapolis Speedway in a 1973 Road Runner (in the back seat...) on a "tour lap" back in the early 80s. My friends neighbor had it, made to drag race, then converted to show car. Several wing cars (Superbird/Daytonas) rolled past us probably doing close to 160.
