Dreaded Check Engine light on after 3 weeks of Ownership

I was able to get the PCM flashed with the updated tuning and there was also a flash for the transmission also which I did not know they could even do. Drove the car home from the dealership this past Friday and I swear it ran better, had more torque and the engine was just all around more responsive. Shifts better too! Hope it lasts as I am now getting spoiled!!! At this point no complaints to log. Fingers Crossed.

Good to hear!

So, happy as a pig in ****???????????? :)

Like you, no complaints after 6 days and definitely performs much better. Hopefully next week I will be able to complete "dyno day" at my local speed shop to really see what is going with this engine setup.

Glad to hear it's running better. Let us know how Dyno day goes!

Well glade to hear it is working better. I guess maybe I need to check my dealer and see if I'm all up to date. Later RJD

So far, so good here. Been a couple hundred miles and no issues to report. Have not performed a WOT test yet but half to three quarters performance is very good.

I checked with my dealer today and no further updates out so that's good to hear. Later RJD

You can check on Dodge, for current updates also. Enter the VIN and check.

Check engine light came on yesterday!

Got my car 2 weeks ago, has less than 1,000 miles.
Brought it into Service Dept. this morning, 2 hours later all set.
TPCM and TCM software updates applied, check engine light gone.

What month was your car built. Later RJD

Door Jam: May 2026
Window Sticker: 05-04 (26)

The TSB claims it's for earlier models.
But the dealer tech conversed with STAR before doing the update.
Interesting. My dealer had no up dates for mine last week. I have 680 miles so far and car is almost 7 weeks old and was built mid April. I guess I will see what happens to mine and hope it does not happen on my trip to FL. Later RJD

I was told by a Service Dept rep that a solid Check Engine Light means make a service appointment soon.
But a Flashing Check Engine Light means bring it in NOW. Good thing to remember.

Mine arrived last week, and I just called the salesperson to verify this update. Of course he said, "Well, it should be ok because it was just built".

You will know very quickly if your new Charger's PCM has been re-flashed or built with the updated turning. The as-built flash had the turbo's coming on too early and just made the car harder to drive. Also, be on the lookout for the CEL as will surely light up if yours has the old tune in it. Let me know what happens! Best!!

Yep you should be good. Later RJD

I had those fuel trim codes, too, but then something much worse happened: I parked in the paid garage downtown, shifted it to park, maybe shut it off, but then all the PRND lights flashed on and off at once, a message saying "Service Shifter System" popped up, and it freaking locked the shifter! Found codes U1465 and U1466 with my OBD tool but they could not be reset. Panic! I'm in a paid garage, stuck in park, in a car that has no manual release out of park, with an immobilized car. I would've had to get a flatbed with dollies into the unattended garage to tow it to a dealer.
LUCKILY...I went back after 20 minutes or so, turned it on, and it shifted fine, as if nothing had happened. I got it to the dealer right away. They applied this TSB: 18-022-26 REV. D for the fuel trims and ESM (shifter) software from 68590558AF to 68590558AG, and all the problems are gone and no MIL.
