What's new

Paint Job is starting to flake off at 1300 miles and less than two months of ownership

Yeah this thing is wide as hell. It's VERY easy to scrape these wheels. There's very little sidewall to protect you too.
Just a word of caution for any newbies. It doesn't feel wide when you're driving it, until you go to parallel park it lol

But man, that driver REALLY jacked up that wheel bad. Had to be going too fast while parking it or just kept going after it hit. Curb rash got half the wheel in one go!

You might note also that the wheel base is longer and you need to watch your turns as you will hit cubs. Later RJD

Finally got the reflash of the PCM about 10 days ago and the car is running better than ever. I have put on a couple hundred miles and no check engine light has come on yet. I think it could be fixed, at least hoping so. Now another problem has started and that is with the paint. In the area where the front section bolts onto the body and in the rear where the end pieces bolt on the paint is starting bubble up and flake off. It's becoming a mess. Reached out to my dodge dealer and they said it is a known problem with the paint job on these cars, and a TSB is coming out shortly on this issue and a possible entire car repaint may be the only fixes. Not want I want to hear after dropping close to $69k out the door for a Scat Pack Plus with every option. Has anyone else had issues with their paint job in those specific areas?
Having the same issues. Had my car approximately 2 months. Was in the dealership over a week having paint fixed on the door right off the lot. Now at 3700 miles check engine light is on with P068A code and now paint peeling (literally like it does not even stick) on the hood. Called Dodge today and started a case with them. Had an appointment at the dealership today but their systems were down so now I have to go back Thursday. So disappointing on a brand new vehicle.

One thing I did notice is the check engine light came on after I turned off the “auto start/stop” feature which is a button below the radio because I didn’t want the car to shut off at the red light. I have the 2026 2 door Scatpack. Not sure if that’s what’s throwing the code initially for people but hope it helps to point it out.

The paint seems to let go on the exact same spot in each case. Passenger side front bumper at the seam between the fender and bumper. Something is wrong with either the adhesion or fitment. Or both. Good luck! Mine is being repaired now. My dealer did put me in another Scat Pack as a loaner, at least.

Mine is chipping where the hatch meets the spoiler. I will grab some pics today of it.

Totally agree. Exact same spot!

Is the loaner one having the issue as well? 😂

Update: car is still at the body shop. Wheel is supposed to arrive on the 21st. The service advisor told me we were lucky to get one as there are only about five of the black noise wheels in the US at CDJR parts departments.

Update: Dealer called me. New wheel has not arrived and the body shop did a terrible job. Car has been transferred to another body shop. *sigh*

But! I’m still in their Scat Pack Plus loaner with no mileage limits.

Regrettably I have also joined the crew with a paint defect issue. My front bumper seems fine, but where my rear bumper connects it has started to flake off 😭

Does anybody have some advice on this? Had Dodge issued any kind of tsb or recall for this yet? Seems pretty widespread.

Sorry to hear that. Just take it back to your dealer.

Sorry to hear of the paint issue. Any pics of it? Looks like you need to tack back to dealer. So far no issues with mine. Later RJD
