START/STOP Technology

Isn't start/stop driver mode dependent?. Works in AUTO mode. I noticed on my SCAT if in Sport or Custom, start/stop is deactivated.

I was in Auto mode and it did it again tonight. Did not stop and do a restart at stop light. I have not heard that it is deactivated in sport or custom. Is yours doing this? later RJD

Yes, noticed that it works that way within days of purchase. AI's take: Switching your Dodge Charger into Sport Mode sharpens throttle response, firms up the steering, and automatically disables the Auto Start/Stop system. The engine stays running at stops, providing instant acceleration when you need it. I always run it in in Custom or Sport for that reason.

There's a list of conditions that must be met for it to activate also. However, normal driving on a new car you'd think that it would work.

Guys once again it works it depends on the foot pressure....press harder for to activate

It also depends on the stop...if its a sudden stop won't work regular driving works every time for me

wonder why there is no mention of this in the manual. Later RJD

It can also be affected by other things. If you live in a warm area, it may not activate if the AC is struggling to keep up to the temp you set it at. Battery life of the second starter battery can also affect it. If your car has been sitting it won't work either.

You guys are just lucky though. It always shuts my engine off if I forget to disable it lol

True about the AC. Proved this on a GM Tahoe, it was hot out and we came to a stop and decided to crack up the air. S/S did not take effect. Later RJD

So, just to be clear, I have to push on the brake pedal harder yet once I'm stopped to activate it?

I see no difference on the amount of foot pressure you use. I pressed as hard as I could at a stop light did not activate. Maybe have to be in econo mode. Later RJD

Kingsam is right about the foot pressure.

I played today and came to an easy stop with just a little brake pressure. Pushed a little harder and engine stopped. Tach also went to zero (see photo) and little green light in lower left of photo lit up

I eased up the pressure on the brake but not enough to allow car to move and the engine started back up.

This interesting as I can not get it to go into S/S mode no matter how hard I press the brake. I had a panic stop last night and I came to a compete stop and foot hard on brake stayed there for a couple minutes and nothing happen engine still running no stop start. Guess I have glitch in the car:) Later RJD

Same here. Yesterday I JAMMED the pedal down and still nothing. Could it be a mileage thing? I'm only at 115.

Are you guys running the AC? Because I noticed when you have the AC on it doesn't kill the engine. But if you don't it will kill it.

I'll guess this is what mine was doing as it was not shutting down and I had the air on. Today it was cool enough and I turned air off sure enough the S/S worked. Later RJD

Still hasn't kicked in yet. Yesterday, I stumbled across a screen that said, "Unavailable due to cabin heating or cooling". I can't remember where though.
